Bonaire is part of the ABC
islands in the Dutch Caribbean, very near Aruba and Curacao.
The island lies OUTSIDE the Hurricane Belt, about 50 miles
north of Venezuela and just 12 degrees off the equator. So
don't forget the sun block. The weather and ocean
temperature are constant all year long so visitors can
always enjoy ocean sports like scuba diving, windsurfing,
snorkeling, and kayaking. There are also mountain bike and
hiking trails and many places for bird watching. Bonaire is the premier
scuba diving and snorkeling center of the Caribbean. The
island is famous for its lush reefs and clear water. For
decades, Bonaire has been known as one of the best
eco-tourism destinations in the world, having started its
preservation steps over 30 years ago. Bonaire has been rated
the number one place to learn to windsurf because of our
shallow, protected bay and reliable winds. It's great for
advanced sailors as well. If you have teenage
children, check out our visiting
teen program at
Jong Bonaire. Your teens can visit the center each
afternoon to join in the sports, music and computer
activities. Cost is $100 per week per teen.
