Bruce Bowker's Carib Inn is
a resort dedicated to the needs and requirements of
travelers who want a real diving vacation. By focusing on
diving, Bruce's very specialized staff maintains quality
throughout the resort.
All employees in the dive
shop are PADI certified instructors. This gives every
customer the best possible commitment to professional
instruction, advice in equipment purchases and any diving
topic.
Bruce and his wife, Liz,
have owned the Carib Inn since its beginning in 1980. He was
the first dive instructor working full time on Bonaire,
starting in 1973 at Capt. Don's Aquaventure. With over 28
years of diving on Bonaire, Bruce knows the island well and
is committed to it. Recently he helped organize a group to
help Save Klein Bonaire. They secured funds through the
World Wildlife Foundation to protect the small island from
development forever.
Dive boats leave from the
dock just a few steps from the gear room of the Carib Inn.
You will enjoy the careful attention to safety on the boats
as well as the appreciation and protection of nature during
the dives. For instance, Linda Baker, who has been with the
Carib Inn since 1990, is often called the "seahorse queen."
She has a knack for finding the little critters and also the
well camouflaged frogfish. Linda has biked and hiked most of
Bonaire so she'll be able to tell you all about our island
above water as well as below.
Kitty Handschuh started
working at the Carib Inn in 1987 as an instructor. She is
from the US, where she taught elementary school before
teaching scuba diving. Kitty has been managing the office
and instruction since 1990. She is also extremely
knowledgeable about the reef's little critters and played a
major role in the Save Klein Bonaire effort that
successfully bought back the island.
With a group this committed
to the diving on Bonaire and the protection of the island's
natural resources, you are sure to enjoy your week of diving
at Carib Inn. Bruce is just as committed to the
development of the youth on Bonaire. He joins us in thanking
you for your donation to Jong Bonaire.
